FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
SHIPPING QUESTIONS:
- Q. How long until you ship my purchase?
- A. In general, neon ceiling fans have a 3 to 8 week lead time before shipping, depending on our shop workload. High-volume orders may incur additional lead times. If your order is time-sensitive, please contact us prior to purchase to make sure we can accommodate your needs. While we are not able to guarantee specific shipping or delivery dates, we can give you a ballpark guesstimate based on our current workload and your specific product(s).
- Q. Which shipping carrier(s) are available?
- A. We ship exclusively via FedEx Ground (referred to as "FedEx Home Delivery" for residential addresses). After your orders ships, you will receive an email containing your FedEx tracking number(s).
- Q. Can I pay to upgrade to a faster shipping service, such as overnight or 2-day?
- A. The fee from FedEx for overnight shipping is typically a $250 to $450 increase over the standard Ground shipping charge, depending on your zip code. 2- and 3-day services are often unnecessary if you live in the southern and eastern US, where FedEx Ground is already a 2- or 3-day delivery. If you live on the west coast, the upcharge for 2- or 3-day shipping is typically $200 to $300 over the ground shipping charge. However our neon ceiling fans have a 3 to 8 week lead time before shipping, depending on shop workload. It is inadvisable to spend hundreds of dollars shaving a few days off the transit time, after waiting several weeks for your fan to ship. If you need to do so, please contact us and we will work with you to coordinate this. You would be responsible for all actual shipping charges beyond $49.
- Q. Can you ship to my P.O. box?
- A. Sorry, we ship exclusively via FedEx Ground. Only USPS delivers to P.O. boxes. We do not ship via USPS.
- Q. Can I use my own FedEx/UPS/DHL/etc. shipping account?
- A. FedEx yes, all others no. If you wish to use your own FedEx account, please contact us prior to purchase and we will email you a custom invoice for your products with the shipping charges removed.
- Q. Is my shipment insured?
- A. Yes, we insure your shipment through FedEx for its actual replacement value (purchase price).
- Q. What happens if my shipment is damaged in transit?
- A. Open your items as soon as they arrive and inspect for damage. If your item is damaged during shipping, we must be notified within 24 hours of delivery, and a claim will be opened with FedEx. If damage occurred and you notified us on time (within 24 hours), we will re-send an identical replacement item at no cost to you. Please note that we are unable to provide free replacements for items reported as damaged more than 24 hours after delivery.
- Q. What if my shipment is damaged in transit, but I don't notice and report it within 24 hours?
- A. If you're mechanically-inclined, you're welcome to purchase spare parts and repair the damage yourself. Otherwise you can send it back to us and it will be processed as a non-warranty repair: you pay to ship your fan to us, we repair it using new parts at the prices shown on the spare parts page (no charge for labor), you pay return shipping back to you.
- Q. My product arrived later than I thought it would, so now I no longer need it. Can I get a refund?
- A. Sadly we cannot accommodate refunds. All sales are final. Please see our All Sales Final Policy. If your order is time-sensitive, please contact us prior to purchase to make sure we can accommodate your needs. Please note that tracking numbers' expected delivery dates are a "best estimate", not a guarantee.
- Q. I live in the Tampa Bay area, where The Neon Fan Company is located. Can I pick up my order in person to save on shipping costs?
- A. Yes! We offer FREE DELIVERY within Pinellas County, FREE INSTALLATION within Pinellas County, and FREE LOCAL PICKUP for all Tampa Bay residents at our facilities in St. Pete, Pinellas Park, and Largo. Contact us before making your purchase and we will email you a custom invoice with the shipping charges removed. When your fan is ready, we will contact you to set a pickup or delivery appointment.
DELRAY™ PRODUCT QUESTIONS:
- Q. Do you offer an LED version of the Delray™?
- A. Yes! The LED version is available here.
- Q. Can I get a different color LED housing light than I see on your website?
- A. Not at this time. The 2,885K warm white LED light is our only LED offering. We offer genuine neon fans in over 27 colorways.
- Q. Can I get a different color neon housing light than I see on your website?
- A. Yes! If you're a neon aficionado and know exactly what you want, we have most shades of Voltarc, EGL, and Technolux/Ablon glass in stock. We can also color-match to your existing logo or physical object. See our Custom Neon Fans page.
- Q. Can I change the LED light strip in my fan to a different LED light strip?
- A. Yes! We are hackers ourselves, and encourage our DIY-oriented customers to hack your fans! Any LED light strip which physically fits, and matches the DC voltage/current specs of the Delray's LED driver board can be used "plug & play". However please remember the following important points:
- You are responsible for your own safety. When you hack your fan, you are bypassing some of the normal consumer safeguards.
- Turn off all incoming power to your fan at the circuit breaker before doing any work.
- If you are not experienced and comfortable doing basic-to-intermediate electrical work, you should not attempt to hack your fan.
- Negative consequences of hacking your fan are not covered under warranty. Please note that our warranty does not cover post-manufacture modifications, or incorrectly performed maintenance or repairs.
- If you break something, we sell repair parts.
- To prevent heat issues, mount your LED light strip in the same manner as the factory light strip: bolted to, and in direct physical contact with, the Delray's metal heat-sink.
- Use thermal paste between your light strip and the heat-sink.
- Before doing any work on the LED system, ensure the two large electrolytic capacitors mounted on top of the Delray's LED driver board are discharged by shorting the terminals to each other using the tip of a screwdriver. The capacitors can store a large electrical charge capable of delivering a powerful shock (68 µF @ mains RMS voltage).
- Use dimmable LED chips. All LED Delray™ fans ship with a dimmer built in.
- Q. Why is the neon Delray™ fan not dimmable? Weren't your previous-generation neon fans dimmable?
- A. We did offer dimmable neon as a paid upgrade on our Quorum Prizzm-based neon fans (c. 2019-2023). This option is unavailable on the Delray™ fans due to a difference in the construction of the fan which prevents the installation of the dimmer wiring.
- Q. What direction should my fan spin in the summer (or winter)?
- A. If you have a Delray™ fan by The Neon Fan Company, it operates the opposite of nearly all other ceiling fans. The Delray™ spins clockwise for summer (downflow) use, and counter-clockwise for winter (upflow) use.
- Q. My fan doesn't work right. How do I get help or warranty service?
- A. Call or text (850) 888-FANS.
- Q. Do you offer a 220-volt, 50 Hz version for export to the UK/Australia/etc.?
- A. Yes! It can be custom ordered with a minimum order quantity of 500 units. Because we are located in North America, our stock products use 120-volt, 60 Hz power. The minimum production run for a custom 220-volt version of the Delray™ fan motor and electronics, whether LED or neon, is 500 units. Contact us with your business bona fides for information on estimated pricing and lead times.
- Q. What neon tubing stock do you use?
- A. All of our neon ceiling fans use 10mm-diameter tubing. Our standard colors are:
- Hot Pink = Ablon Violet w/ neon fill.
- When matching to hot pink Quorum Neon Prizzm (model #420525-18), we use EGL E-40 Blue w/ neon fill.
- Ruby (bright) = EGL Coated Ruby w/ argon fill.
- Ruby (dim) = Ablon Uncoated Ruby w/ neon fill.
- Plasma Fire = clear glass w/ neon fill ("clear red").

GENERAL QUESTIONS:
- Q. Can you fix my broken neon fan I bought 20-40 years ago?
- A. Almost certainly, if the problem is the neon tube or transformer. We can replace broken neon tubes or non-functional neon power supplies. Please see our repair services page. For replacements parts such as blades, blade irons, etc., contact us.
- Q. Do you have a showroom where I can see your fans in person?
- A. If you are located in the Tampa Bay (Florida) or Raleigh-Durham (North Carolina) areas, please contact us.
- Q. Can I see real life color samples of your neon?
- A. If you live in the Tampa Bay (Florida) or Raleigh-Durham (North Carolina) areas, please contact us. For customers in other areas, the best solution is usually to walk into your local neon sign shop and look at their neon color samples.
- For the customer whose project demands live color samples and supports the cost, we offer a custom plug-in color demonstration device which showcases real neon tubing from our actual production stock. The color sample device is pre-wired, and plugs into a standard 120-volt wall receptacle.
- Pricing starts at $450 plus shipping for our most basic 1-color sample device, and increases by $50 for each additional color added.
- We offer 14 stock colors, 3 special-order stock colors, and several dozen "off-menu" colors. A 14-color device showing our standard stock colors is $1,100. A 17-color device which adds the special-order stock colors is $1,250. Most colors have 5 to 10 additional "off-menu" shades available. We will build the custom neon color chart you want.
- If you would like to add separate power switches for each neon color (to turn the colors on and off individually): the first color is free, then add $75 per each additional color. Adds a separate transformer and switch for each color. This makes the 14-color sample device $2,075 and the 17-color device $2,450.
- Crating and shipping extra.
- Q. Can you add neon to my non-neon ceiling fan?
- A. Possibly. Contact us with a photo of your fan and a description of what you'd like us to do (i.e. "add two rings of turquoise neon around the motor housing"), and we will discuss feasibility and pricing with you.
